"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
Benefiting Children, Families and Our Community
Numerous studies have shown that the healthier and happier children are outside of the classroom, the greater the chance that they will succeed in the classroom.
That is why it is important that various community groups work together to give parents the support, tools and skills they may need to help raise happy, healthy children who come to school ready to learn.
In turn, this benefits the community by reducing the amount of crime, creating a better-prepared workforce, and raising the overall quality of life in our community.
Facilitating Services through School Site Councils
Because the needs and priorities of students and families in one school are likely to vary from those of students and families in another, the School-Community Council does not take a "one-size-fits-all" approach to the establishment of community collaborations or the delivery of programs and services.
By forming a School Site Council at each school, parents, youth, neighbors and school personnel can determine the goals for each school-based site, then utilize the broader School-Community Council for guidance and assistance as necessary.
